Native Climate’s education team is holding a poster contest! We’re looking for talented artists to create poster designs for K-12 classrooms on a variety of themes, which were developed by teachers during a workshop in Fallon, Nevada in 2024.
This contest is open to Indigenous artists of all ages. When possible, artwork should reference local Indigenous cultures and the local area (ecology, geography, climate, events, concerns, etc). 8.5″x11″ posters preferred.
The goal of this contest is to produce posters to be used in K-12 classrooms. These posters should be a visual representation of the core values that students and teachers agree to follow in a classroom.
Artwork should illustrate one of the following themes:
- Value Indigenous and Local Knowledge
- Seek Unity
- Become Leaders, Not Followers
- Learn Everywhere
- Learn From Everyone
For more information on what these values look like in a classroom, see here.
Deadline: Posters must be submitted by 1/31/25.
Winners will be chosen in each of the 5 categories. Winning artists will receive a $250 Amazon gift card, and their artwork will be distributed online and in print to local educators and community members.
All artwork submitted will be displayed at a Native Climate Poster Showcase event in Reno, NV in Spring 2025. Winning artists are required to attend the showcase.
Note: You may submit more than one piece of artwork, so long as they are in different categories. Please submit a separate google form for each work submitted.
